Concord Arts Market is holding its very own Pet Day on Oct. 17 in Eagle Square. The Concord SPCA, Live and Let Live Farm, Greyhound Pets of America, Libby's Haven for Senior Canines, NH Animal Rights League and pet-related vendors will all be in attendance. Pet Day is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The Concord SPCA will have volunteers and staff to answer questions. There will also be animals available to visit that are looking for homes. Could this be the day you meet your new furry family member?

Live and Let Live Farm is an animal rehabilitation rescue shelter and sanctuary in Chichester, for abused, neglected and unwanted animals - mostly horses. Come visit for more information on how you can help their worthy cause and meet Whinney the mini pony!

Greyhound Pets of America helps find homes for ex-racing greyhounds and educates the public on the suitability and availability of greyhounds as pets. Stop by their tent for more information and meet some sweet, loving and graceful dogs.

A juried variety of pet-related vendors, fine artists and artisans are also scheduled for the day, including makers of pet gear, pet portraits, safer/earth-friendly pet toys, handbags, glasswares, paintings, jewelry, yarn, wreaths, hip graphics gear and more. Bring along Buffy the bulldog, Scooter the cat, Herman the hamster or Noah the parrot. All are welcome, provided they are leashed and ready to play well with others!

One of those most important features of Pet Day at Concord Arts Market is the pet food drive to benefit the Concord SPCA's Making Ends Meet program. Making Ends Meet is a pet food program to help pet owners who need temporary assistance with feeding their pets. Cat food (of any kind) is the greatest need right now. Please pick up a bag before heading over and drop it off to help a needy family keep their beloved pet in these tough economic times.

Live & Let Live Farm Rescue Fundraiser for Animal Food Bank

Here's some information about this amazing farm:
New Hampshire Animal Food Bank of Live and Let Live Farm Rescue

In this poor economy our goal is to have food on hand or available to pick up from a feed store/business when we get a call for help with people that have no more food or money to purchase food for their loved animal companions in need.

This would not only be for horses but to help with any animals where there is true need on a short term/ temporary basis. In most cases, especially with the larger animals, we would be going to check the animals out at the same time we would be delivering the food. This way we can be sure the animals are okay and help with any advice, questions and/or other help that may be needed.

We are hoping that the food/grain companies will be willing to give back to the community. They would be helping, in many cases, the animals that have helped build their businesses that may now be in need of help. Maybe they will even help to get the word out when they are doing their advertisements, as there would not be an extra fee to pay for adding our NH Animal Food Bank of LLLF information to their already paid for advertisements. So it won't cost them "extra" that there is help here and that we need the food to help people and their animals in this poor economy where people are just barely holding on.

We are looking for:
Businesses that may put in donation/food boxes and informational brochures in their stores.
Stores, grain and/or feed companies that may offer matching donations when customers purchase food products to donate to the New Hampshire Animal Food Bank of Live and Let Live Farm Rescue.

AWESOME news on my source of recycled tennis balls!

I have exciting news!
I have entered into an arrangement with Penn to recycle tennis balls directly from them!

I'm happy to report that business is going so well that the Racquet Club in Concord can't supply me with enough tennis balls.
Enter Penn (who is the only company who manufactures tennis balls in the USA).
They have a great "Green Initiatives" program.
Here's a excerpt from their website:

"When making the rubber, there is a certain amount of dust that occurs when the tennis balls are buffed. Penn is able to capture it and put it back into our production process. 2 million tennis balls each year are made from that accumulated dust, cutting down on the amount of new rubber that needs to be used.

Until the rubber is cured, it can be reprocessed and is fully recyclable back into the production process. After the rubber is cured, it cannot be broken down and reused. However, Penn’s scrap rubber is ground up and used in rubberized asphalt on freeways – another way to recycle.

Penn does not dispose of oil into the environment – the oil used in the machines is regenerated back into the production process and completely used up.

All of Penn’s master cartons are made of 50% recycled material.

All of Penn’s plastic PET containers are recyclable plastic. In addition, Penn uses a unique manufacturing process that starts with approximately 25% less material and also recycles 20% of the material used back into the process. Because Penn makes their own cans, any cans that do not meet quality standards can be ground up and recycled back into the production process to make new cans.

Unfortunately, finished tennis balls cannot be traditionally recycled, due to the many materials and components used. However, Penn encourages non-traditional recycling."

Enter WOOF PURR CREATIONS!
Some of these tennis balls that can not be sold or recycled, are going to be recycled into my dog toys!
Woohoo! Not only are they all made in the USA, but they are recycled and not used.

Just wanted to take the time to say a quick Happy Thanksgiving and hope all is well with everyone!

Also, from Black Friday (TODAY!) until Cyber Monday, I will have free shipping on all my Christmas & Halloween cat toys. I also have a lot of great new toys up...I'll put up some photos soon.

On a side note, I've missed the last few craft fairs because I was in a car accident on the way to the Thronton's Ferry Craft Fair in Merrimack where my car was totaled (by someone who apparently fell asleep at the wheel). Anyway, I will be at the following fairs before the end of the year (with more to possibly come):

Bear (my 21 pound maine coon) loves to prance around with a butterfly in his mouth like he just caught it. It's his favorite toy by far!
